Alice Gallagher is the Associate Faculty in Applied Clarinet at MiraCosta College.
A Massachusetts native, Ms Gallagher made her debut at eighteen, as guest soloist with the Boston Pops.
Her experiences as a musician with epilepsy have motivated her to advocate for better inclusion and equity for music professionals with disabilities.
Ms. Gallagher is a graduate of The Juilliard School and earned her Master’s degree in Clarinet Performance from Cal State University Fullerton.
She enjoys playing as a freelance solo and chamber musician throughout Southern California and New England.

Alice Gallagher has established herself in San Diego and beyond as a clarinet teacher with an honest, enthusiastic, and patient approach. She teaches clarinetists of all ages and levels. Her unique combination of musical skill and encouraging personality help her students learn and improve in a relaxed atmosphere. Gallagher's students have gone on to gain entrance to study music at schools such as Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Boston Conservatory/Berklee, UCLA, and Indiana University. They have been accepted into prestigious programs such as the Interlochen Arts Camp, and placed in top spots in the Massachusetts and California All-State Bands and Orchestras. Her students have also performed with the San Diego Youth Symphony and the Civic Youth Orchestra of San Diego, and number among them multiple winners of prestigious contests such as the Musical Merit Foundation.

"One of the moments I will always remember about Alice is the time I asked her to run an impromptu masterclass for a group of high school students. . . I was so very impressed that a young lady of her artistry also had the capacity to reach down to young musicians and create a meaningful and exciting experience for them. Her teaching in this class was exemplary."
-Dr. Mitchell J. Fennell
Coordinator of Wind Studies Emeritus
Director of Bands, California State University-Fullerton

“Alice Gallagher's clarinet playing is musically stylish, imaginative, and personal; superb! As a teacher, she is a real force, and prepares her students for college in a marvelous fashion.”
-Håkan Rosengren, Artist-in-residence and Professor of Clarinet Emeritus,
