Music lessons are not just one more activity to be added onto a person's busy life for the purpose of building a well-rounded appearance to prospective colleges, not just one more item to check off the list one the way up the ladder to success.
The gift of being able to play music oneself is something not to take for granted, and the lasting benefit of music lessons extends throughout the lifetime.
My goal for all my students is to cultivate a lifelong love for and interest in playing and listening to music as a means of personal expression. Some of my students will pursue music as a profession, and some will become important leaders in their respective fields and voices and advocates for arts education.
I believe that none of my students will leave my studio without the knowledge that music is no small thing; that through it, they have the humble power to transcend the present, and to move souls in times of darkness.

What Should I Expect When I Sign Up For Lessons?
A new lesson is prepared and performed each week, and then we will work more in-depth on a challenging piece and your band music. If you have specific sections of music or notes that you are struggling with, I will assist you with them- don't be afraid to ask! Lessons often end with playing duets. So, here's the typical breakdown:
1. Scales and technique
2. A new study or etude every week
3. A piece to prepare for exam or audition and recital
4. Duets
Practicing Expectations:
Your practice sessions should reflect the lesson material- every practice session should include scales, technique, etude or lesson, piece and duets as well as band music.
